Dolpa Region

he Jumla-Dolpo Trek is a remote Himalayan adventure connecting the Jumla region to the mystical Dolpo area. Trekkers experience rugged mountain landscapes, high passes like Kagmara La (5,115m), and the pristine Phoksundo Lake. Along the way, you can explore Tibetan-influenced culture, ancient monasteries, and diverse wildlife in Shey Phoksundo National Park. This trek is ideal for experienced hikers seeking solitude and an authentic Himalayan experience.
The journey typically lasts 20–28 days, starting with a flight to Nepalgunj and then to Jumla. The trail passes through remote villages such as Gothichaur and Dho Tarap, offering insight into traditional village life. Trekkers cross high mountain passes, visit Bon Buddhist heritage sites, and enjoy breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks. Accommodation is in simple teahouses, and good fitness is required due to altitudes reaching 5,300m. The best season for the trek is May to October.
All treks require permits and a licensed guide. The journey promotes sustainable tourism by supporting local communities and protecting Dolpo’s fragile environment. This trek provides a rare opportunity to experience one of Nepal’s most isolated and culturally rich regions while contributing to its preservation.
